Abstract

Researchers from Ain Shams University have characterized a lytic phage, vB_SauP_ASUmrsa123, active against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolated from Egypt. The phage was found to be a potential alternative to antibiotics for treating MRSA infections. The study involved whole genome sequencing and host range determination of the phage, providing valuable information on phages belonging to the staphylococcal phages class I.
