Abstract

Researchers from Universidade de Marilia in Brazil have conducted a study on circadian rhythm signaling peptides and proteins in the Sapajus apella primate. The study focused on the expression of clock proteins in the substantia nigra and subthalamic nucleus, revealing the presence of Per1, Per2, and Cry1 proteins in these areas. The research suggests that these proteins play a role in regulating circadian rhythms associated with motor behavior in primates. The study provides valuable insights into the functions of clock genes in different species beyond nocturnal rodents. [Extracted from the article]
