Abstract

A study conducted at the Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar examined the impact of Bariatric Surgery (BS) on maternal and neonatal outcomes among pregnant women in different weight categories. The research found that women who had undergone BS were more likely to experience adverse outcomes such as cesarean delivery, preterm birth, stillbirth, and low birth weight neonates compared to women in the normal weight group. The study concluded that pregnancies with post-BS should be considered high-risk and closely monitored for medical outcomes. This research provides valuable insights for future clinical decisions regarding antenatal and postnatal care for post-BS women. [Extracted from the article]
