Abstract

Researchers from the School of Bioengineering in Tamil Nadu, India, have developed anti-fouling membranes made of poly(lactic)acid (PLA) incorporating titanium dioxide-coated biochar composites to efficiently separate lipopeptides from Bacillus subtilis fermentation broth. The membranes showed hydrophilic properties and high water flux, leading to the purification of lipopeptides with enhanced antimicrobial properties. This study highlights the potential of the PLA/Ti-biochar membrane for separating biological molecules, offering promising applications in the field of bioengineering. [Extracted from the article]
