Abstract

Researchers from Northwell Health have conducted a study on the role of exosomes from the synovial microenvironment in joint homeostasis and osteoarthritis. The study focuses on the therapeutic potential of extracellular vesicles (EVs) released by mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in treating osteoarthritis. The research highlights the importance of understanding the biological function of these cell types to predict their therapeutic actions and suggests that EVs and exosomes could offer unique applications for treating osteoarthritis and cartilage defects. The study was published in the Journal of Cartilage & Joint Preservation. [Extracted from the article]
