Abstract
- A study conducted at Universidade Federal de Uberlandia compared median nerve impairment in primary neural leprosy (PNL) patients and carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) patients. The research found that PNL patients had thicker nerves in the proximal tunnel segment compared to CTS patients, indicating demyelinating impairment. The study concluded that the presence of neural thickening and demyelinating impairment in segments proximal to the carpal tunnel can aid in diagnosing leprosy. [Extracted from the article]
