Abstract

A recent study from Tulane University explores the role of Stimulator of Interferon Genes (STING) in inhibiting coronavirus infections by disrupting viral replication organelles. The research reveals that STING hinders the formation of double-membrane vesicles (DMVs) where coronaviruses replicate, ultimately impeding the replication process. This study sheds light on a new antiviral function of STING in coronavirus infections, providing insights into how it disrupts viral replication organelles. The research was supported by the NIH National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
