Abstract

Researchers at the University of South China conducted a study on pediatric pulmonary tuberculosis patients to analyze the lung microbiota using metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) on bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) samples. The study found that mNGS can enhance the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) when combined with other diagnostic methods like TB-PCR. The research concluded that mNGS is valuable for diagnosing PTB and understanding the unique lung microbiota of pediatric patients.
