Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Federal University Sao Paulo explored the impact of the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) pathway on vascular injury and revascularization in muscle injuries induced by Bothrops asper venom (Bav). The research found that the COX-2 pathway plays a crucial role in decreasing ischemia caused by acute injury, while its decreased activity in the early stages of revascularization contributes to the production of key pro-angiogenic mediators that aid in the restoration of microvasculature and blood flow in muscle tissue injured by botropic venoms. This study sheds light on the potential therapeutic implications for tissue regeneration following skeletal muscle injury induced by snake venom. [Extracted from the article]
