Abstract
- University of Sydney researchers have conducted a study on neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease, focusing on the role of astrocytes and toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) activation. The research found that TLR2 activation impairs the autophagy lysosomal pathway, leading to a-synuclein pathology and degeneration of dopaminergic neurons. This study highlights the potential therapeutic target of TLR2 in Parkinson's disease and the importance of addressing astrocyte dysfunction in disease progression. [Extracted from the article]
