Abstract

A study conducted at Children's Hospital Colorado focused on the complications of intrathecal baclofen therapy in children and young adults. The research analyzed patient demographics, improvements in tone, and clinical complications associated with ITB therapy. Complications such as catheter issues and pseudomeningoceles were common, with newer catheter models showing fewer complications. The study concluded that ventriculoperitoneal shunts and gastrostomy tubes did not significantly increase complication rates, and patients with preexisting VP shunts showed greater improvement in MAS scores.
