Abstract

Researchers from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences have developed a peptide nanoregulator that enhances the antitumor immune response in fractionated radiotherapy. This nanoregulator, SPER-NO-Ind, enriched with nitric oxide at the endoplasmic reticulum, inhibits immunosuppression and promotes immunogenic cell death in tumor cells. The combination of SPER-NO-Ind with radiotherapy showed promising results in suppressing tumor growth and inhibiting metastasis in mice, while reducing the total radiation dose needed. This study offers a new approach to improving the efficacy of fractionated radiotherapy for tumors and enhancing the antitumor immune response. [Extracted from the article]
