Abstract

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India, have developed electrically conductive hydrogels for on-demand drug delivery in tissue engineering. These hydrogels have shown promise in enhancing the therapeutic efficacy of biomolecules through higher loading of therapeutic cargo with on-demand delivery. The study explores the properties, mechanisms, fabrication techniques, and recent advancements of these electrically responsive 'SMART' systems for potential clinical applications. Funded by the Ministry of Education in India, this research highlights the potential of electrically conductive hydrogels in improving drug delivery systems. [Extracted from the article]
