Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology focused on developing a blood-based multi-pathway biomarker assay for early screening and classification of Alzheimer's disease. The research aimed to go beyond existing biomarkers to capture dysregulation in biological processes such as inflammation and vascular dysfunctions. The study successfully developed a 21-protein biomarker assay that accurately classifies Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment, indicating amyloid pathology in Chinese and European populations. The findings suggest the utility of this assay for early detection and staging of Alzheimer's disease, providing insights for patient stratification and precision medicine development.
