Abstract

Researchers at Mayo Clinic conducted a study comparing the outcomes of general endotracheal anesthesia (GETA) versus total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) for children undergoing low-risk cardiac catheterization. The study found that TIVA was associated with significantly shorter door-to-door time in the pediatric cardiac catheterization laboratory without increasing procedure duration, hospital stay, or complications. The research suggests that TIVA may be a beneficial option for anesthesia management during pediatric cardiac catheterization. The study was peer-reviewed and published in Pediatric Cardiology.
