Abstract
- Researchers from Mayo Clinic conducted a study on the impact of the time of day on surgical outcomes after lung transplants. The study analyzed data from 30,404 lung transplants between 2005 and 2021 and found that while binary categorizations of the time of day did not significantly affect short- or long-term survival, continuous-time analyses revealed that certain times during the day were associated with better short-term survival rates. The study concluded that specific times, such as donor clamp-times between 8 AM and 1 PM and estimated reperfusion times between 1 PM and 6 PM, were linked to lower mortality rates.
