Abstract
- New York City's business improvement districts (BIDs) are opposing a new policy by the Sanitation Department that will fine them for leaving trash bags on sidewalks, which they argue penalizes their cleaning services. The rule, set to take effect on August 1, requires BIDs to store trash in bins with tight-fitting lids instead of leaving bags on the street for collection. BIDs, especially smaller ones, are concerned about the financial burden of compliance and are seeking support from the city to help them meet the new requirements. [Extracted from the article]
