Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Bursa Uludag University evaluated the effectiveness of medical treatment in patients with giant prolactinomas who had undergone surgery or not. The study included 41 patients and found high rates of hypopituitarism, hypogonadism, and other hormonal deficiencies in the patients. The research concluded that there was no significant difference in tumor volume reduction and normalization of prolactin levels between patients treated with medical therapy alone versus those who had surgery followed by medical therapy. The study suggests that surgery should be reserved for severe cases to avoid unnecessary procedures. [Extracted from the article]
