Abstract
- The article focuses on the role of transnational religious and ethnic networks in the economic development in China. The earliest forms of transnational social action has stemmed from religious groups and organizations. The differentiation between latent and dynamic networks is useful in assessing varying processes and outcomes. The presence of transnational collective activity in a setting where it has been absent reveals the need to consider two new concepts within social movements theory, repertoires of cooperation and opportunity creation.
