Abstract
- Alcoholic cardiomyopathy (ACM) is a relatively common cause of heart failure that occurs in only a proportion of patients with heavy, chronic alcohol consumption. Our ability to study the condition in humans is limited but in vitro and in vivo studies in animal models have improved our understanding of the condition and could help identify those individuals most vulnerable to the cardiotoxic effects of alcohol.
