E-Paper Ready for Mass Production.

The article reports on a prototype of color electronic paper built by E Ink Corp. and Toppan Printing Co. Ltd. that can be mass produced and achieves 12-bit color in 400x300 pixel format with resolution of 83 pixels per inch. A color filter from Toppan offers a high-brightness layout that preserves the paper-like whiteness of the background page. The layout creates deep black prints for text and a range of colors and tones for images. The electronic ink technology of E Ink develops an image that looks like a printed page from all angles and maintains the same contrast ratio under all lighting conditions.
