Abstract

This article highlights the impact of business intelligence on the ability of Burt's Bees to absorb a sudden uptick in business as of February 2006. Executives of the firm credit business intelligence with playing a critical role in the 35% annual growth and $100 million sales in 2005. Burt's Bees, which makes more than 130 products, signed distribution contracts with national chains CVS and Walgreens in 2005. The deal represents a break from previous distribution channels mainly composed of specialty health-food stores, college bookstores and online retailers.
