Abstract

The article presents the proposal of the Committee on Education of the American Association on Mental Deficiency for a two-year action research project on the educable mentally retarded child in the U.S. The improvement of the education programs for the trainable mentally retarded child is necessary because: (1) the nature of change in population trends; and (2) the great interest by parents and other citizens in the development of community facilities. The development of educational program for the trainable mentally retarded child is in urgent need of sound development. The design and framework of the Action Research is presented.
