Abstract

The article suggests the use of hook grip, a weightlifting technique to keep a strong grip on the barbell. The procedure for holding a barbell is presented. The technique can be used for many exercises including deadlifts and bench presses. The thumb will sore for the first few sessions as it adapts to being squeezed against the bar.
