Abstract

The article suggests that a quintet of inexpensive and readily available drugs might provide a safe alternative to more toxic anti-HIV drug cocktails. This claim is made by Aldar Bourinbaiar and Vichai Jirathitikal of Immunitor Corp. in Thailand, which created the V1 AIDS vaccine. They review evidence that warfarin, cimetidine, levamisole, acetaminophen and gramicidin D might have antiretroviral and immune modulating properties that could help recover the immune system of HIV/AIDS patients.
