Abstract

The article discusses Linux operating system-equipped cellular phones from Symbian Ltd., a group of telecommunications and consumer electronics companies. There are four user interface frameworks available for Symbian phones, which include Series 60 (S60), Series 80 (S80), User Interface Quartz (UIQ), and Multimedia Object and Application (MOAP) model. S60 is a product developed and licensed by Nokia. While S80 is an enterprise-oriented product also available on Nokia phones. UIQ is developed and licensed by UIQ Technology of Sweden. And MOAP is a framework available from NTT DoCoMo Inc. for phones connected to its network.
