Comparative Effect of Gromwell (Lithospermum erythrorhizon) Extract and Borage Oil on Reversing Epidermal Hyperproliferation in Guinea Pigs.

The article examines the effect of gromwell extract and borage oil on reversing epidermal hyperproliferation in guinea pigs. The results demonstrate that gromwell is more effective in reversing epidermal hyperproliferation with a marked increase in ceramides. They have concluded that dietary supplementation of gromwell alone or in combination with borage oil might be an alternative therapy, or might serve as an adjunct to conventional therapies in the treatment of hyperproliferative disorders.
