Abstract

The article offers information on the Tail of the Dragon or U.S. Highway 129. It is one of the best known motorcycle roads across the country. The road is the site of skirmishes between white settlers and the natives during the 18th century. Locals riding pack horses and rugged wagons and cattle drives going to market comprise traffic on the Little Tennessee and Madisonville/Franklin Turnpikes.
