Critical care management of the vascular patient.

Abstract: Patients presenting for vascular surgery often suffer from generalized atherosclerosis and are likely to require intensive care. Changing demographics and recent advances mean an increasing number and variety of operations are being performed on an increasingly frail and older population. Some general principles of critical care medicine are introduced. The pathophysiology of some common is discussed. Specific concepts to critical care are explored. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
