Abstract

A section of the book "Polar Regions: Surviving in Antarctica" is presented. It presents information on the hardships experienced by polar explorers Ann Bancroft and Liv Arnesen in crossing the continent of Antarctica to reach the South Pole. To successfully cross the continent, mental and physical toughness are needed. The explorers faced terrible weather and dangerous treks. Bancroft and Arnesen had sails to catch the wind so they could travel faster.
