Abstract
- The article presents a professional development case that illustrates how middle school teachers in the U.S. can cope with dilemmas they routinely encounter in their jobs. The case involves teachers, students, parents and administrators and the interplay between them towards the resolution of various teaching dilemmas faced by teachers in middle schools. It demonstrates the type of professional development that will be most beneficial for the teachers. Guidelines for using dilemmas to write cases and share them with colleagues are also discussed.
