Abstract

The article discusses a public health survey issued to residents in Vermont who had the Vermont Department of Health test their residences for radon. The survey assessed the demographic characteristics, knowledge about radon, mitigation rates, types of mitigation, and barriers to mitigation of the people surveyed. It is remarked that exposure to radon is associated with an increased risk of lung cancer. The survey identified factors that were associated with radon mitigation that could lead to better radon education and mitigation practice.
