Abstract

The authors comment on the decision of the U.S. Commerce Department to impose tariffs on paper imports from China. They say the move brings the U.S. closer to a trade war with China that would affect U.S. consumers, and recommend that the administration should look for an opportunity to scrap the paper tariffs. Moreover, China's commerce industry has indicated that it will take necessary steps in response to the decision, which it called unacceptable.
