Universalising Elementary Education in India: is the private sector the answer?

The article presents a study investigating the role of the private sector in universalizing elementary education in India. The study included some macro-level account of some of the features of private elementary schools in the said country and draws comparisons with government schools. The researchers draw some policy conclusions from the perspective that in achieving educational goal, the efficiency and equity of the entire educational system has to improve, not just that of the public sector.
