Abstract
- The article reports on the growing number of home goods retailers that were acquired by private equity firms in the U.S. A report in the "Women's Wear Daily" periodical revealed that Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts is planning to acquire Macy's at $52 per share. Several retailers that have been acquired by private investment firms include the Container Store and Dollar General. Chris Kampe of Grant Thornton Corporate Finance cited open-minded investing behavior as one factor that drives private-equity activity in home furnishings retail.
