Abstract
- The article reports on the restoration of the Jefferson Memorial, designed by John Russell Pope and completed in 1943, and the Lincoln Memorial, designed by Henry Bacon and completed in 1922 in Washington, D.C. Einhorn Yaffee Prescott and Hartman-Cox architects are collaborating with specialists to conserve bronze, marble and murals. The National Park Service's Denver Service Center is leading consultants to the 10-year project. Staff architects of the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) manually surveyed, photographed, and measured both memorials.
