Abstract
- The article deals with the arts legislation enacted by the U.S. 85th Congress in December 1958. These include an act to preserve and maintain the Patent Office Building as an art museum and the passage of a law creating a National Center of the Performing Arts and the National Defense Education Act of 1958. Bills introduced but not enacted into law include a bill providing for a special assistant to the Secretary of State for International Cultural Relations, a bill liberalizing tariff laws for works of art and a bill for the establishment of a Federal Advisory Commission on the Arts.
