Abstract
- The article discusses the works and goldsmith designs of Ottavio Strada and examines the Fitzwilliam Codex and Dietrichstein Codex. It was found out that Dietrichstein Codex has no list of contents and the drawings are not ordered so exactly in groups compared to the Fitzwilliam Codex. However, out of the 182 designs in the two codices 33 are common to both, and the style of presentation is so consistent that it was believed they must be derived from the same source. Thus, there have been assumptions that all the drawings in both Codices are based on originals by Giulio Romano or his workshop. Issues concerning the conception of Romano's designs and drawings are also mentioned in the article.
