Abstract
- The numerical approach of smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) was introduced firstly, and then was applied to the simulation of sea ice dynamics in the Bohai Sea. The moment equation and viscoelastic-plastic constitutive model of sea ice dynamics were described using SPH method. The evolution and field distribution of sea ice parameters, such as ice thickness, concentration, velocity and stress, were obtained with the SPH simulation for 48 h in the Bohai Sea. At last, the simulated ice thickness distributions were compared with the satellite images. Numerical results show that the SPH approach can simulate the sea ice distribution and ice edge location with high accuracy and stability, and it is a valid numerical model for sea ice dynamics.
