The article focuses on the doctor-patient relationship with specific attention given to the role of social conditions that influence medical behavior and attitudes. In particular, medicinal sociology is discussed and social attitudes toward illness, including misconceptions of the causes of diseases are explored. Additionally, a somatological understanding of illness as well as the disclosure of information within the doctor-patient relationship are discussed.
