Abstract

The article discusses the importance of reindeers to Sami people in Europe. Reindeers are considered as the basic commodity of the people in Scandinavia and Russia. All parts of the animal are important because its body is consumed as food, its bones are used as the vital ingredients in the traditional Sami craft and tools and its skin and fur are developed by their women into outdoor clothing. The homemade bones and antler souvenirs created by the people from the reindeer become their significant source of income.
