Abstract
- The article focuses on the chair housed in the Kunstkammer of the Emperor Rudolf II in his palace on the Hradschin in Prague. The author declares that the chair must be one of the fully documented pieces of 16th century furniture because its arrival in Prague and its departure can be followed in detail. When the Imperial palace was captured by the Swedish army, the chair was sent to Sweden and was incorporated in the royal collection. The chair was then sent to England in 1758. The chair, which remained in Prague for over fifty years, is now the property of the Earl of Radnor at Longford Castle in England.
