Abstract
- The article features children who will perform their winning poems at a poetry slam in New York in 2008. 11-year-old Francisco Reyes put those thoughts to paper in a poem called "Inside of Me." The poem earned him more than just praise from his teacher. It helped Francisco win a trip to New York City in April to perform at the poetry slam. Savannah Cruz will also perform at the slam. She wrote a poem called "Popularity." Nathan Zimayala, 10, a fifth-grader from Denver, Colorado will participate at the poetry slam.
