Abstract

A definition of the term "Network Topology" is presented. It refers to the specific physical, logical, or virtual arrangement of the network components and devices. It is determined only by the configuration of connections between nodes. A network topology does not affect distances between nodes, physical interconnections, transmission rates, and signal types.
