Differential Methylation of a Short CpG-Rich Sequence within Exon 1 of TCF21 Gene: A Promising Cancer Biomarker Assay.

The article focuses on the CpG-rich sequence in the exon 1 of the TCF21 gene that is methylated in the lung cancer cells, in comparison with normal cells of the lungs. Designing a methylation-specific qPCR value is made which is appropriate for an analysis. The application of this value is showed through patients with lung cancer and without lung cancer, as well as through the use of lung cancer biopsies and sputa from the patients. Further application of the qPCR is made in malignancies on various organs.
