A tale of two springs.

The author highlights the distinction between social movements in France and Czechoslovakia in the 1960s. Similarities between the efforts of youth to bring about social change internationally are outlined. The author argues that Czech social revolutionaries brought a skepticism and understanding of socialism to their resistance efforts that their French counterparts lacked. The social conditions surrounding the Czech "velvet revolution" of 1989 are also referenced.
