Abstract
- The article discusses traditional farming system in Sikkim, India. It gives a brief history of the traditions and the beliefs of the early farmers where the moderns farming systems are based. An emphasis on the details of the system in villages are described from the beginning when everything was through the blessing of the divine Almighty Buddha to the landlords overseer down to the development of what is practiced today. Traditions of land preparation in enumerated and briefly explained including the terrace cultivation, irrigation, maintaining fertility in soil, and other traditional farming system.
