Abstract

The article reports on the study conducted by Anthony Chan, biologists at Yerkes National Primate Center, to develop potential treatment to Huntington's disease in Atlanta, Georgia. They used five rhesus monkeys which are genetically engineered to churn out the mutant protein that causes the disease. They inserted the Huntington's gene into the DNA of 130 macaque eggs, along with a gene wherein all the monkeys born expressed the green protein. Discussed are the details of the issue.
