Abstract
- Controlled technological systems are used in many fields. They provide essential services such as the regulation of water pressure, the control of grid frequency and the active stabilisation of high buildings. Unfortunately, all technological systems are subject to faults, due to both component malfunctions and unforeseen external influences. Since a controlled system is strongly connected, a fault in one part of a system affects all parts in the control loop. Thus, a severe fault may render the whole system inoperable. This usually means that the system has to be switched off until the fault is repaired. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
