Abstract
- In the recent years, thanks to the RXTE satellite, our knowledge of the properties of aperiodic time variability of compact binaries increased enormously. Here I briefly summarize the current status both for neutron star and black hole systems and concentrate on the similarities between these two classes. I show that there is increasing evidence that the main processes that produce the variability are the same for black holes and neutron stars. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
